Munsyari
Wayfarer Mountain Resort Uttaranchal
: Right
now Munsyari is treaded upon by few. Roseat dawns and crimson dusks
can leave you simply staring at the snow laden summits for hours.
There are several options for those wishing to experiment with soft
adventure. A day's trek to the nearby villages like Darkot (4 Kms)
and Daranti (7 Kms) can be quite an eye opener. Similarly a 2 kms
trek through the forest leads to Maheshwari Kund, a picturesque
nature lake. Legends abound about the lovers who shunned the world
and were united in this place. There are other interesting day treks
to Balati Farm at a height of 9000 feet, which offers breath taking
panoramic views of the snow peaks, or to Thamri Kund, another lake
hidden amongst rhododendron forests. A Jeep Safari through Madkot,
Chori Bagar, Bangapani to Jouljibi and back entails a day's travel
through absolutely picturesque locations along the banks of the
Gori Ganga and you may end up exhausting your entire camera roll.
Likewise a visit to the waterfalls at Jimi Ghat could prove to be
another eye opener.
Munsyari is the gateway to the Johar region and a storehouse
of many of nature's wonders.
For those who are in search of true adventure Munsyari offers a
variety of incredible opportunities. The place is the basecamp for
treks to Milam, Ralam and Pachu glaciers. Milam is the largest glacier
of Kumaon and is situated at a height of 4267 mts. The ten days
trek to Milam from Munsyari and back involves a 58 kms walk along
the Johar valley through Darkot, Lilam, Bugdiyar and the last Indian
village - Milam. Another fascinating ten days trek from Munsyari
is to the Nanda Devi base camp. With its base at the Wayfarer Mountain
Resort, the Wayfarer Group offers you a variety of high altitude
treks in the Nanda Devi region. To know more about these treks please

. For some a four days to and fro trek to the near by mountain
top at Khaliya could entail spending the night in a Alpine tent
pitched on a buggiyal offering a briliant midnight view of the Panch
- Chulli. Of course there is also the ultimate option for those
who can really dare….. climbing the Panch-Chulli. There are
five peaks
in all and you can take your pick!
Season
Munsyari
Wayfarer Mountain Resort Uttaranchal
: Between
April and June the day temperature is an average of 20oC while temperature
at night is around 10oC. The early morning and late evening views
of the Panch Chulli peaks are usually good. This is a good time
to visit Munsyari for treks to Nanda Devi and other destinations.
July and August are the peak monsoon months when getting to Munsyari
becomes difficult because of unexpected land slides on the way.
By mid-September the weather settles down, the views are excellent
and the climate is good for short breaks to Munsyari. From late
November the upper regions begin to receive snowfall and by mid
December the entire area is covered with a blanket of snow. This
is a splendid time to get to Munsyari. On a clear and sunny morning
the entire place looks marvellous. Wayfarer Mountain Resort is open
throughout
winter and guests
are accommodated in the Kumaoni log huts.
